Originally wrote and released in 2014, Simon aka One Half of Bent explains the story behind the release.

2014 started off in a financial emergency, but it inspired me to attempt to release a four track EP every month on Bandcamp. The challenge was ridiculously hard as I had to not only produced 4 tracks that I liked every four weeks, but I also did the artwork.

Inspiration came from my usual source: Places and their atmospheres. Real or fictional. It’s continuing theme in a lot of my work. It’s been an obsession since I studied art.

I never disclosed at the time what each EP of the month was inspired by, but this first one was inspired by children’s books, especially the likes of Rupert the Bear etc. My imagination was always lost in the illustrations of those books, and so I attempted to make an EP that reflected that cosy nighttime feeling, spellbound by those hand-drawn universes.
