Phat Phil has a phat personality that shines through with his selection of varied tunes alongside Gavin Kendrick for the "La Escollera" compilation CD. Its nice to hear DJs not playing the usual Deep House grooves that dominate most beach bars to a largely unreceptive audience. The ‘La Escollera Session One’ CD contains real music for real people, music styles ranging from Jazz, Folk, Soul and other Balearic oddities. There are a lot of wishy washy compilation CDs out there and this is not one of them!
Perfect music for the beach, I especially like the cover of ‘Walk On By’ by The Decoders, Headland, ‘The Hum Song’ and Kid Fonque, ‘2Sides’. All in all this is an excellent compilation crammed with quality and therefore gets the Jon Sa Trinxa seal of approval.
Robin Lee [Faze Action]
Brimming with subtle genius, this collection manages to invite deep musical spirits such as soulful vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Xantone Blacq with the folk laden intimacy of BJ Smith whilst managing to touch on the Brazilian groove of Marcus Valle with reworks by the likes of Ron Basejam. The thing that ties them altogether is musicality, pure and simple. If this music is the soundtrack to La Escollera, then it's going to be well worth the visit.
I love it, really fresh and different from anything else around… Full of musical pearls and sun soaked vibes, the perfect way to enjoy the summer and even if you're not in the sun you're still going to be feeling it : )
A Man Called Adam
As lovers of eclectic music and big Latin jazz heads, we really enjoyed soul / latin / jazz selections (Marcos Valle et al) and the other musical oddities carefully selected by Phil and Gavin. Not your usual beach house fodder, a perfect mix for a day at the beach or a sunny picnic.
Kev Beadle [SunCeBeat / SPW / Mindfluid]
A perfect blend of sunshine vibes that set the mood perfectly for lazy beach days put together by two of the best musical connoisseurs around.

What I've come to expect from my friend Phil is nothing short of a tasteful adventure into the realm of the lesser know Balearic beat. The term is contentious at best, and filled with snobbery at worst but I think Phil (and Gavin) have managed to capture the true meaning of the word here.
Eclectic selections from, and for the heart and soul aimed at sun-beds and smaller dance-floors alike. Imagine sipping a glass of cold white wine on a terrace overlooking the Med or dancing close to somebody you love at a night-club in your mind. A souvenir from a celebrated history.
Danielle Moore [Crazy P]
Its a joy indeed to listen to mixes that instantly catapult you away from the daily humdrum and into the heart of the paradise intended. Beautifully hypnotic, sweetly orchestrated and considered music and wonderfully blended by people with a deep love of the soul. Brazillian to Balearic and folk driven melodies, a clear insight into Ses Salines uniquely stunning and peaceful haven.

'...This compilation quite literally knocks spots off the competition, I haven’t enjoyed an Ibiza compilation album so much as the original Cafè Del Mar mixed by Josè Padilla back in 1994, this really is a future classic in the making. 10 / 10' Full review here >> bit.ly/1zJ01cG
